About Us

Born from a love of travel and a passion for interior design, Lychee brings you handcrafted, sustainably sourced homewares and gifts that we have personally selected and love.  Our journey starts with artisan products sourced mainly from Bali, but who knows where our adventure will take us next!

All of the products you'll find at Lychee are hand-picked by me, Louise.  After I had my first child in 2017 I completed an Interior Design diploma while I was a stay at home mum. I love how spaces can be transformed by blending colours, textures, and styles to create a mood or story and the emotional connections that are formed.

In 2023 I took my Mum on a trip to Bali and Singapore to celebrate her 70th birthday.  It was while I was in Bali that the idea came for blending my love of travel and interior design by sourcing and selling homewares and other lifestyle goodies.  While New Zealand has some amazing artisans and I love to buy local, I haven't found the things that make my heart sing like I do when I'm travelling.  It took a little while due to some health issues, but after sourcing in Bali in 2024, Lychee was officially born in January 2025!

I love to know where our products are made and by who, ensuring that the talented craftspeople receive fair pay and work in comfortable conditions.  I also want to know the materials the products are made from and that they've come from a sustainable source.

On each trip, I make a point of visiting different areas of Bali, exploring new stores and workshops and wandering backstreets to find things I haven't seen before.  Most villages have their own specialities so there is always something new to explore.  I love to talk to the locals to find out more about their traditions and the methods used to craft their products.  I'm always amazed by the craftsmanship that goes into each item. They're handcrafted with love and attention to detail rather than mass produced in a factory and I'm thrilled to be able to be able to bring them to New Zealand.  I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!
